Dubai Fashion Week S/S 2010- Day 2

Al Jaziri Moters Presents Lamborghini

Photos by "Des" of Harry Cruz Photography

Lamborghini hit the stage with a sporty look this season that any guy or gal can wear. I loved the trench coats-they looked so chic! The boots were rad as well. I can definitely see myself looking fabulously slick by wearing these casual and comfortable clothes...especially if I were wearing them driving a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV!!!

"Kanzi" by Sheikha Amal Al Maktoum and Raghda Taryam

This dynamic dual, Shiekha Amal Al Maktoum and Raghda Taryam of "Kanzi", are just too fabulous to effectively describe! My mom and I loved, loved, loved their designs-with the use of embellishing the abayas with feathers and beautiful gold embroidery-these designs are FABULOUS! The gowns were just as stunning and vibrant...and the wedding dress...what a master piece! If you ever wanted to be a Grecian Goddess, then you better buy one of these garments...it's as close as you'll get! LOL I love KANZI!

Hatem & Troy by Hatem Alakeel

Milan Men's Fashion week...look out...because Hatem Alakeel's is definitely a contender to be one of the fashion world top men's designers! Fortunately, we had the pleasure of seeing his innovative thobe designs on our runway for the S/S 2010 Dubai Fashion Week. Not only did he show us what a "modern man" wears, but his line of trendy t-shirts, sports wear (for man and women) and cute dresses were just as impressive! The attention to detail and the construction of all the Hatem & Toby collection was impeccable, to say the least. I know what I'll be buying for my dad next holiday..and myself too! lol

I love that some design elements include tribal prints, mask, cut-out abaya's, formal wear, whimsical looks, and party/club dress. There is something here for everyone of different taste to see. They are all very talented and deserve to be applauded for their efforts to create something innovative and new. I hope to see more from these young and ambitious designers in the future. Great job and wishing you all much success!

I also want to send out a special thank you to my friends, Harry and Des Cruz of Harry Cruz Photography! They are the nicest people I have ever worked with. They are also excellent photographers and did me a great service by being the official "Dubai It Girl's" photographers for the S/S 2010 Dubai Fashion Week. Look out for an exclusive blog entry about these two wonderful photography artist in the next few days!

I thought you all would like a sneek peek into the back stage preparation for Dubai Fashion week. These photos were taken by my good friend and photographer, Martin Von Den Driesch. They are well done and really capture the true essence of what really goes on behind the scenes. I absolutely loved the make-up and hair of each and every show. Dessange Paris (hair) and L'Oreal (make-up) did a fantastic job! Looks kinda like Paris Fashion Week, if you ask me...but it's not...it's Dubai Fashion Week...DFW S/S 2010 is FABULOUS!

Dubai Fashion Week S/S2010-Day 1

Walid Atallah
Photos by Harry of Harry Cruz Photography

The name Walid Atallah is not a new name to the fashion industry...in fact, he has become a power house in the industry. This season, Mr. Atallah put on a fabulous show, featuring his exquisite gowns, and his Swaroski crystal corset tops on the wedding dresses. I loved the matching crystal purses and the head pieces. Any girl would be crazy not to want a Walid Atallah original creation made just for them!

MIMI Fashion Designs by Mariam Al-Mazro

Photos by Harry of Harry Cruz Photography

Who ever says that a woman can't be modest and look beautiful at the same time will eat their words after seeing these elegant garments made by MIMI Fashion Designs! The owner, Mariam Al-Mazro, and her design team have really captured something new and exciting with the patchwork prints and the mix of unexpected fabric combinations. This collection is for the woman who has everything. Lovely work!

Bravo Barbara Bela

The dynamic trio, Barbara Bela (two sisters and their mother), came all the way from Brazil to show us all what 35 years of fashion design experience looks like. These classic and edgy designs where wonderfully executed with vibrant colors, rich fabrics and hand embroidery.

I loved the way the gowns and dresses flowed, as the models graced the runway. Brazil is a beautiful country, with beautiful people...and now we all know that they are creators of beautiful clothing. What a way to start DFW!

ORA by Rimalya
Photos by Harry of Harry Cruz Photography

ORA, by Rimalya, was a mix of classic, modern and modest style made for any woman. The prints are very Monaco meets the Pacific Island, and the fabrics are soft and vibrant. I can see myself walking down the beautiful streets of Cannes in one of ORA's colorful airy kaftans. I also love the fact that Ora made cocktail/short dresses for young women like myself.
Can't wait to see what Rimalya does next season!

Aartivijay Gupta

Aartivijay Gupta is a young designer who makes clothing that is both flirty and fun! The use of Eco-friendly fabrics in her clothing, like linen and terry voile, is a testament to her conscious design style. Bright and earthy tones of color where adorned with flowers and origami like embellishments. If you are a creative and fun loving woman, then these lovely dresses are for you!

Dubai Fashion Week S/S 2010: Interview with Emerging Talent "Studio Kalid"

Me with designer extrodinaire, Kalid Alhajri

Dubai Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 session started yesterday on the 25th of October, 2009. Before the show began, I had the privilege to spend some time with the designers and interview them. All of these interviews and photos will be posted daily, so don’t forget to logon to Dubai’s It Girl and tune in!

Emerging talent designer, Kalid Alhajri, of Studio Kalid, was one of the first designers I interviewed during the fittings. He is a talented designer from Saudi Arabia, and is now based in Bahrain. During the interview, Kalid talks about his clothing lines, his inspiration, and his design philosophy. It was a special pleasure to interview him, and I hope you will enjoy it too! Oh...and sorry for all the background noise .;-)
