Butter Good!
Dubai Diva & The Upper Eastside Girl
Amir Adnan Dubai Fashion Week 2009
If you are a Dubai Diva with a New York Upper Eastside mentality like myself, then you will add at least one of these fabulous creations, by designers Salma Khan and Amir Adnan, to your closet!
Salma Khan’s flirty dresses remind me of something that Sara Jessica Parker’s TV character “Kerry” (Sex in The City) would wear while walking down the street shopping on Madison Avenue on a sunny day. I love the movement of the garment and the vintage inspired printed fabrics. All her designs are ultra chic and say, “I’m rich, stylish, and fabulous, and I don’t apologize for it!”
Amir Adnan, on the other hand, offers a Dubai Diva (or an Upper Eastside Girl) a more glamorous approach to “a night on the town.” Imagine yourself walking down the red carpet of the Dubai Film Festival, or entering a gala at the Museum of Natural History in New York wearing an Amir Adnan creation like the one shown above…you would be named one of the best dressed of the evening guaranteed!
I really do love these designers. I too hope to add their clothes to my growing closet.

Taking a Look Back
This dress was actually designed in 1925 by Charles Frederick Worth's two sons, Jean-Philippe and Gaston. The tube like dress is embellished with gold embroidery and a gold lame underlining that peeks out from the sides.
I love this dress. It is very modern and the length in the back brings a unique touch.
DIOR
"Abandon" afternoon dress, fall/winter 1948–49Christian Dior (French, 1905–1957); Christian Dior Haute Couture (French, founded 1947)
This black dress, with its plunging neck line, is so well done. I could go out and about anywhere in this dress today and no one would know it was made in 1948.
Fuchsia pink has never looked better on an evening dress. Short in the front and long in the back is brilliantly crafted with an underlay of poufy layers of feathers. Although it was made over 50 years ago, this dress is trendy and ready to wear today. I really would love to find something like this to wear to my graduation.

DFW: Chosen Best Dress 4 days in a Row!
Day two, I wore an outfit that was inspired by Marc Jacobs F/W 2010 collection. I put together clothes I already had in my closet to look like the 1920's flapper girls. Sorry for the scary red eye. LOL
Day three, was an outfit I wore to resemble more if an Asian modern feel of clothing. The purple jumpsuit is from Zara, the jacket is from Stradivarious, and the shoes are from Steven Madden. Guess what....it didn't cost a million dollars!
Day four, I went back to the 80's with this ensemble. The modern twist lies in the chose of fabrics and prints. The sandle boots are from Nine West, the leggings are from Pull and Bear, and the top is from Forever 21, all in Dubai!

The sisters have done it again!!!
The Reem & Hind Ali Beljafla's collection was truly a Muslimah’s (Muslim woman) dream! Actually, any woman can wear their clothing. The abayas where all elegant, the fabrics where rich, and the design was timeless. These flowing garments are definitely for people with exquisite taste.
